Lisa M. Wight
Lisa is a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and joined the Office of the Employer Advisor in August 2017 as Employer Advisor.
Called to the Nova Scotia Bar in June 2004, after graduating from the Dalhousie Schulich School of Law in 2003, her practice has been general litigation, labour and employment, family law, tax litigation, maritime law, personal injury, foreclosure, insurance, and general practice areas.
Lisa practiced with the law firms of Taylor MacLellan Cochrane, Kentville, Nova Scotia, from 2013 – 2017 and Metcalf & Company, Halifax, from 2006 – 2013, a boutique admiralty and transportation law firm. She also completed a one-year contract with the Federal Department of Justice, Tax Law Services Department (2005-2006) and worked at Adams & Company in Windsor, Nova Scotia at the start of her career (2003 – 2005) in general practice. Throughout her career Lisa has had the opportunity to appear at all levels of Court in Nova Scotia as well as the Tax Court of Canada, the New Brunswick Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal.
Before completing Law School, Lisa received of the Bachelor of Commerce program from Dalhousie University (1996), a Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University (1998) and a Bachelor of Social Science from the University of Ottawa (2000).
Lisa originates from Newfoundland and has made Nova Scotia her home since 1992 when she came to the province to attend University.
