The Department of Labour and Advanced Education (LAE) Safety Branch is revising the Occupational First Aid Regulations. In 2019, they hosted a number of sessions across the province to get input on the proposed changes and throughout these sessions, they heard from employers, employees and training organizations that there is a need to update some aspects of the First Aid Regulations.

In January 2020, the Safety Branch will be hosting new sessions around the Province to inform stakeholders on the proposed changes to the First Aid Regulations based on the feedback received, and to discuss a risk assessment process for use in determining first aid training and first aid kits required.
Employers are encouraged to sign up and participate in at least one of these sessions being held around Nova Scotia.

First Aid Discussions in Nova Scotia
The Department of Labour and Advanced Education Safety Branch is revising the Occupational First Aid Regulations. We are organizing a follow up session to those we hosted in 2019, about possible changes the regulations.
Throughout these sessions, held in July , we heard from employers, employees and training organizations that there is a need to update some aspects of the First Aid Regulations.
